How to Use the Page Setup Settings

The Page Setup Settings allow you to customize the appearance of an individual page or blog post. This guide will walk you through each setting and how they work.

Overview of the Page Setup Settings

There are three ways to access the Page Setup settings. Those depend on which type of page you are trying to change.

You can change the Page Setup settings of an individual Blog Post by simply editing the post. The Page Setup should appear inside the "PageLines Meta Settings" window underneath the blog text editor. If for some reason it's not there, click "Screen Options" and make sure the "PageLines Meta Settings" box is checked.

You can also change the Page Setup settings of a regular page. Go to the page you want to change and click "Edit Page." Inside the "PageLines Meta Settings" window, you will see the "Page Setup" tab followed by any active/inactive Section tabs.

The third method is for changing the Page Setup settings for the pages that don't handle meta data: Blog Page, Archive Page, Category Page, Search Results, Tag Listing Author Posts, & 404 Pages -otherwise known as "Special Pages."

The settings are located under the "Page Setup" tab in the "PageLines Meta Settings" section underneath the page text editor.

1. This setting allows you to choose the overall page layout
2. These settings allow you to choose which sections appear on your page
3. These settings are for adding a background image and customizing its appearance
4. This setting allows you to choose the Secondary Menu that appears in the Site Header of your page

You probably don't want to use the same layout on every page, so PageLines gives you the option to choose one for any specific page. To choose a layout, click the one you want then click "Save Meta Settings" at the top of the settings.

1. Full Width: Posts occupy the width of your main page without sidebars
2. Left Content, Right Sidebar: Posts occupy the left with a right sidebar
3. Right Content, Left Sidebar: Posts occupy the right with a left sidebar
4. Left Content, Dual Right Sidebars: Posts occupy the left with two smaller right sidebars
5. Right Content, Dual Left Sidebars: Posts occupy the right with two smaller left sidebars
6. Center Content, Left and Right Sidebars: Posts occupy the center with smaller left and right sidebars

Individual Page Section Control

There may be times when you don't need a certain page section to appear on a specific page. These settings allow you to control which sections display and hide.

Let's say that you have the Twitter bar enabled, but you don't want it to display on one page. Check the box next to "Hide TwitterBar" then click "Save Meta Settings" at the top of the settings.

1. These sections make up the page's four template areas: Header, Template, Morefoot, and Footer
2. These sections make up the page's content area including the content, wrap, and sidebars

Page Background Image

You may want to add a background image to a specific page without using CSS code. PageLines gives you the ability to add a background and customize its appearance to suit your desires.

1. Click "Upload Image" and select the image you want as the page background
2. Click "Remove" if you want to remove the uploaded image
3. Use the "Set Background Image Repeat" setting to select how you want the background image to repeat
   1. Do Not Repeat: The background image will only appear as a single image
   2. Tile: The background image will "tile" to look like a repeating pattern that covers the entire page background
   3. Repeat Horizontally: The background image will only repeat from left to right on the page
   4. Repeat Vertically: The background image will only repeat from top to bottom on the page
4. Use the "Vertical Position in Percent" setting to select a specific vertical position for the image (not applicable to a background image set to "Tile")
5. Use the "Horizontal Position in Percent" setting to select a specific horizontal position for the image (not applicable to a background image set to "Tile")
6. Use the "Set Background Attachment" setting to select how the background image behaves when you scroll a page.
   1. Scroll: Select this option to allow the background image to scroll along with the rest of the page content when scrolling
   2. Fixed: Select this option to keep the background image in a fixed position when scrolling

This setting allows you to select the Secondary Navigation Menu that appears on a specific page. Click on the dropdown menu, select the menu, and click "Save Meta Settings" at the bottom.
