WordPress Plugin Compatibility

Simple mama:

Erratic or strange site behavior is normally caused by a faulty plugin. Whether the plugin is out of date, not compatible with the current version of Wordpress, or just badly coded, this topic will serve as a central location for plugins that have been reported as incompatible with PageLines Framework.

Note: If you are the author of a plugin listed below, please contact hello@pagelines.com and provide us with a copy of your plugin to have it tested for potential removal from this list.

Reported 3/13/12: [[How to Use the Layout Editor Settings|Layout Dimensions Editor]] cannot be changed. (Unable to test or verify as this is a premium plugin.)

== Stream Video Player ==
Reported 3/13/12: Doesn't allow [[How to Use the Blog and Posts Settings#Displaying, Hiding, and Customizing Content|tags in excerpts]]. Also changes the excerpt length unexpectedly.

== WPFacePages ==
Reported 3/14/12: Distorts the PageLines Meta Settings menu on posts and pages. Interferes with cloning ability. (Unable to test or verify as this is a premium plugin.)

Reported 9/12/12: Distorts the entire PageLines admin panel.

PageLines Leaf Logo

If you have a Professional or Developer license, the recent PageLines 2.1.4 update changed how the PageLines Leaf logo/watermark is displayed.

Prior to the update, the Leaf logo was automatically removed for those who had a Developer License. With this update, both PageLines Professional License holders & Developer License holders have the option to remove the leaf from the bottom of their site.

In addition you can now upload your own logo & link it to wherever you want.

From the WordPress Administration Panel:

# Click "PageLines" then "Site Options"
# Select the "Website Setup" tab
# Scroll down to "Website Watermark"

There you can make your changes.

How to Install PageLines

PageLines installs in the same way a theme installs on WordPress. You can install PageLines directly through WordPress or via FTP to your hosting server if you prefer.

You must be using the self hosted version of WordPress available through http://www.WordPress.org. Many hosting providers will offer this version of WordPress as a one click install through their services.

===Before You Install & Activate===
If you are migrating your site from PlatformPro or another theme, follow these steps. If you are building a brand new site, skip to [[How to Install PageLines#Install & Activate PageLines|Install & Activate PageLines]]
# Back up your database
# Copy any custom CSS, functions, sections, etc into a text editor
# Move all of your widgets to the "inactive" area (Appearance -> Widgets)

There are two different ways to install PageLines.

====Via WordPress====
# Download [[PageLines]] from your [[Glossary#LaunchPad|LaunchPad]] Account.
# Login to your WordPress Administration Panel.
# Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
# Select Install Themes and select Upload.
# Browse your computer to select your PageLines .zip file.
# Click Install Now and WordPress will work its magic and install PageLines.
# Login to your WordPress Admin Panel goto Appearance > Themes
# Activate PageLines

===Via FTP ===

You might want to use your [[Glossary#FTP|FTP client]] to install PageLines. If you do not have an FTP client you can use something like [http://filezilla-project.org/ FileZilla]. Now that you have a file uploading monster on your side capable of striking fear in the hearts of urban populations everywhere, here is how you install PageLines through FTP.

# Download [[PageLines]] from your [[Glossary#LaunchPad|LaunchPad]] Account.
# Unzip the files somewhere on your computer, preferably somewhere you can find them later.
# Open your FTP Client and access your host web server
# On your web server goto your WordPress directory and then navigate to wp-content/themes.
# Upload the entire theme file to your web server so your directory will be wp-content/themes/pagelines
# Login to your WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance > Themes
# Activate PageLines

# Reestablish your Wordpress menus (Dashboard -> Appearance -> Menus) and save
# Move all of your widgets back to the desired locations (Appearance -> Widgets)
# Visit each tab of the PageLines menu and adjust the settings to your liking (don't forget to enter your account info too!)
# Paste your custom CSS, functions, and other items that you copied earlier. See [[How to Use the PageLines Customize Plugin]] for more information
